Creating Sustainable Communities

SANDIS’ design achieves economic, social, and ecological sustainability. SANDIS has fifty (50) LEED™ Certified and Registered LEED™ projects. Our firm has provided innovative ‘green’ solutions on some of the earliest LEED Certified projects, including: UC Merced, the first University of California campus to be wholly sustainable; Newark Center for Health Sciences and Technology, the first community college campus in the United States to achieve LEED Platinum certification; and West Valley Branch Library, the first library in the world to be LEED Certified. Supported by Green Guidelines for Healthcare Design, SANDIS has contributed green infrastructure solutions on $3 billion of hospital redevelopment in the state of California. SANDIS has also achieved LEED Gold and Green Point Rated status for several prominent in-fill housing developments in the Bay Area.

In 2000, SANDIS became a member of the USGBC. Our company president and vice president were amongst the first civil engineers in California to be LEED™ Accredited Professionals. Company wide, our firm has made a commitment to sustainable design and to employee accreditation. SANDIS takes significant pride in being on the forefront of emerging sustainable design solutions.
